Description
My notes: “Burgundian” is one of the most overused clichés in wine criticism but this is so chiseled on the palate that it’s impossible not to feel Pinot Noir’s european roots here. The fruit also wouldn’t be out-of-place in Burgundy, though it is almost restrained compared to some modern Burgundy that can be downright opulent these days, but it is certainly very punchy and sharply defined, ripe, deep, and intense, married to some very sexy French oak with chocolate and coconut notes, and then a palate that is taut, sappy, chiseled, long, and just begging for food! The richer the food, the better. 13.4% . Screw cap. Drink now to 2026.
Won the South Australia Trophy at the Australian Pinot Noir Challenge 2022, being ranked first out of 43 entrants:
“An intriguing and lifted nose of sour red cherries, amari and mulch. A finely composed palate has a lovely balance of sinew to flesh. Its core fans out into a fine tail, along the way pockets of flavours emerge adding complexity and delight. A delicious and filigreed pinot.”
