Tasting Note:
The 2019 Barolo Bric dël Fiasc is a commanding and age-worthy expression of Nebbiolo from one of the region’s most iconic crus. First vinified as a single-vineyard wine in 1978, this cuvée represents the heart and soul of the Paolo Scavino estate. Originating from the Fiasco vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, where Tortonian and Helvetian soils converge, it delivers a remarkable synthesis of power and finesse.
In the glass, it reveals a deep garnet hue and an aromatic spectrum ranging from crushed red berries, rose petals, and licorice to mineral undertones and balsamic notes. The palate is dense and structured, yet defined by its precision: vibrant acidity elevates the complex layers of cherry, forest floor, and graphite, while the tannins are tightly woven, refined, and persistent.
This Barolo demands patience, offering immense aging potential over the next 15–25 years. Ideal with truffle risotto, braised veal shank, or mature cheeses, the 2019 Bric dël Fiasc is a grand cru Barolo that speaks eloquently of place, tradition, and excellence.
