Chionetti’s 2022 Langhe Riesling is a crystalline, alpine-fresh interpretation of the noble Rhine variety grown in the elevated hills of Dogliani. Pale straw yellow with glints of green, it opens with a lifted bouquet of white flowers, lemon zest, green apple, and crushed stone and just a little touch of kerosene. The wine’s eight months on the lees lend it a supple texture and gentle roundness, beautifully counterbalanced by soft acidity and a tingly mineral edge.
The palate is silky yet precise, with flavours of citrus, lime marmalade, peach, and a savoury, almost saline finish that speaks to its high-altitude terroir. This is a Riesling of soft generosity, showcasing both varietal character and the distinctiveness of the Langhe hills.
Ideal with seafood, Thai dishes, or goat cheeses, this wine is ready to enjoy now for its vibrant freshness but also shows promise for development over the next 4–6 years in bottle.
