Description
Justin Bubb and Anna Pooley are winemaking royalty and their new 2024 Pinot Noir is my wine of the week (25/5/26).
It’s focused, detailed, and not swamped with oak so it sings from the glass of its southern Tasmanian terroir, half way between the warm and dry northerly winds that can whistle – Mistral-like – down the Coal Valley, and the icy antarctic waters to the south. I spent a year or two working in this part of the world around 2006 (for Domaine A and Moorilla) and remain in baffled awe of its hard-to-explain ability to ripen to perfection everything from Pinot Noir to Petit Verdot – and even the odd olive grove.
It’s no wonder this wine scored a whopping 95 points from Wine Front. See full review below. For a short time only I have it at $59.95 per bottle on the website (here) and you might be interested to have a browse of the wide range of other new wines that I have been collecting there, with a particularly strong showing in Nebbiolo and Pinot Noirs of both hemispheres.
